- Measure your table and calculate the length and width of the table runner.
- Tear the fabric to the correct size.
- Pre-wash and iron the fabric to remove any finishing agents.
- Cover your work surface with a drop sheet or newspaper.
- Mix your paint.
- Start by painting the darkest colour first.
Should a table runner hang over the table?
The length of your table runner is up to you. Ideally, it should hang at least six inches over each end of your table, but shouldn’t hang further than your tablecloth. For example, if your table is 60 inches long, your table runner should be at least 72 inches long, allowing for six inches at either end of the table.

- Test all your colors on the napkins, mixing custom colors as need be.
- Spread the tablecloth out on a covered surface (we used layers of newspaper).
