The Beastmaker 1000 is one of the straight-up best all-around hangboards and is impressively versatile. Despite its compact dimensions, it still manages to offer a plethora of grips and a very good progression of holds with a near-perfect selection of edges and pockets with each building nicely upon the last.

How do you hang a Beastmaker?
Basically you just drill two big holes into the backboard and hang the backboard with slings. If you have a double pull-up bar, you can simply insert straps in between the fingerboard and the backboard (do this before you drill the fingerboard on!) and secure the whole packet to the pull-up bars with the straps.
What is a half crimp?
A half crimp is a type of grip climbers use in the sports of bouldering and rock climbing. You can execute this grip technique by placing your fingertips on a handhold and then curling your fingers at the second joint. Your thumb rests in a natural position on the side of your index finger.
Are wood Hangboards better?
The pros tend to use wooden hangboards because they are a lot smoother, and therefore a lot more gentle, on your fingers. This makes them more skin friendly due to their softer texture, but also makes them more difficult to hold than their plastic counterparts due to the reduced friction.

How do you attach a Beastmaker to the wall?
Do this:
- Attach the backboard to the wall with masonry screws and rawl plugs or bolts. Make sure to use a masonry drill bit when you are drilling into the wall.
- Once the backboard is up on the wall, attach the fingerboard to the backboard with the fingerboard screws.
When should you full crimp?
Due to the small nature of an in-cut 10-millimetre grip, the full crimp is required to over accentuate the angle of the fingers so that they can reach behind the grip. Naturally, this requires significant finger strength.
